Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks Algorithms and Protocols for Scalable Coordination and Data Communication

چکیده
This introductory chapter describes various applications, scenarios, and models of wireless sensor and actuator networks. Problems at the physical, medium access, network, and transport layers as well as various tools needed to enable their functioning are identified. Various assumptions and metrics used in simulations and protocol descriptions are discussed. The chapter then describes ways of generating sensor and actuator networks based on widely accepted unit disk graph models. Finally, this chapter discusses solution approaches arising in sensor networks and advocates the use of localized protocols, where individual sensors and actuators make their decisions based on local knowledge. 1.1 WIRELESS SENSORS We will elaborate first on wireless sensors; then on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) (with a single sink), their properties, models, and application types. Afterwards, we will add actuators to the model and discuss various combinations of sensors and actuators that can form a heterogeneous network with different levels of complexity. Quasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks
Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...
متن کاملA Hierarchy Topology Design Using a Hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor network a powerful network contains many wireless sensors with limited power resource, data processing, and transmission abilities. Wireless sensor capabilities including computational capacity, radio power, and memory capabilities are much limited. Moreover, to design a hierarchy topology, in addition to energy optimization, find an optimum clusters number and best location of ...
متن کاملAn Adaptive LEACH-based Clustering Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks
LEACH is the most popular clastering algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). However, it has two main drawbacks, including random selection of cluster heads, and direct communication of cluster heads with the sink. This paper aims to introduce a new centralized cluster-based routing protocol named LEACH-AEC (LEACH with Adaptive Energy Consumption), which guarantees to generate balanced cl...

Heretofore several position-based routing protocols have been developed for mobile ad hoc networks. Many of these protocols assume that a location service is available which provides location information on the nodes in the network. Our solutions decrease location update without loss of query success rate or throughput and even increase those.Simulation results show that our methods are effectiv...
